2026–2027 EVALUATIONS & REP TRYOUTS
Moving to August!
Aldergrove Minor Hockey is excited to announce that all U7/U9 evaluations and U11–U18 Rep tryouts will take place August 29 through September 4, 2026. This is a change from previous seasons, when evaluations traditionally began in September.
WHY THE CHANGE?
We are making this shift to improve the overall player and team experience:
- Form teams earlier so players can begin practicing together sooner.
- Maximize development throughout the season, particularly for U11 athletes.
- Align U11 evaluations with our U13–U18 Rep process, allowing us to utilize the strongest and most consistent evaluation teams.
- Better align with surrounding associations for exhibition games and season planning.
- Create one consistent evaluation timeline so families know what to expect as players move through our program.
WE UNDERSTAND THIS IS A CHANGE
We recognize that some families may have pre-booked travel. We want to work with you during this transition year:
- Notify the Registrar no later than Friday, July 31, 2026 if you have a known conflict.
- For this first year, AMHA will work with families where reasonably possible.
- There will be no penalty for conflicts communicated before the July 31st deadline.
To ensure a fair and consistent evaluation process, AMHA follows these guiding principles
- Every player will receive a minimum of four (4) on ice-development sessions before any REP evaluations or player selections begin.
- Rep evaluations will not be scheduled during the first week of school, allowing families and players time to settle in the new school year.

U7
- Players will be divided alphabetically for the first two sessions.
- Additional ice times will follow to ensure teams are created as fairly as possible.
U9
- Players will be divided alphabetically for the opening session.
- Players will then be regrouped by the evaluators.
- Each player is guaranteed three evaluation ice times.
U11–U18 Rep Tryouts
Each division will participate in fewer skills sessions and more scrimmage sessions to give players the best opportunity to showcase their skills in game situations.
EVALUATION PROCESS
All on-ice sessions will be run by independent evaluators.
No evaluator will have a player in the division they are evaluating.
Evaluators will assess and rank players throughout the process.
Teams will be trimmed to approximately 20 players.
The final five cuts will be made collaboratively by the Head Coach and evaluators, considering evaluations, team balance, and roster construction.
Our goal is to create the most competitive and well-rounded teams possible while ensuring a positive experience for all players.
